Application and Pet Fees: Paying, Refunds, and Transfers
Findigs provides the platform for submitting rental applications and processing payments, but Findigs does not control or issue refunds directly. Refund decisions for application fees, pet fees, and deposits are made and processed by the property manager or leasing team for the property you applied to.
Paying your application fee
Use a valid debit or credit card and enter:
State: The state tied to your card's billing address.
ZIP code: The ZIP code tied to your card's billing address.
Card number: The 16-digit number on your card.
Expiration date: The month and year your card expires.
CVV: The 3-digit security code on the back of your card (or 4 digits on the front for American Express).
Check the authorization box and click Submit.
You'll receive a payment confirmation email. If you haven't received one, your application fee hasn't been successfully submitted.
How fees work
Fees are per applicant. Each adult applicant pays their own fee, which covers their screening (credit and background checks). For example, if the fee is $50 per applicant and there are two applicants, the total is $100. Fees are set by the property manager.
Fees are per property. Each new application requires its own fee, even if you recently paid a fee for another property.
Different unit, new fee? Whether a new fee is required when you apply to a different unit is decided by the property manager.
Are application fees refundable?
Application fees are generally non-refundable, because they cover the cost of screening. Exceptions can sometimes be made at the property manager's discretion or based on state legal requirements, so it's worth reaching out to the property manager to explain your situation.
Transferring a fee to another property
If your application hasn't been fully submitted and the property is no longer available, Findigs may be able to transfer your application and fee to a different property managed by the same company within 30 days.
Any refund or transfer for a submitted application must be approved and started by the property manager.
If you paid an application fee outside of Findigs (such as a money order paid in person), contact the property manager about any transfer or credit for that payment.
If another applicant is already being processed
Submitting an application doesn't necessarily hold or reserve a unit. If you find out another applicant is already being processed for the same unit, contact the property manager to ask whether your fee can be refunded or transferred to another available property.
How to request a refund
Contact the property manager or leasing office directly and include:
Your full name
The email address used on your application
The property address you applied for
The date of your application or payment
The property manager will let you know whether a refund is possible under their policies.
Planning to delete your account? Ask about a refund first. Refund eligibility can't be reviewed after your account and application data are deleted.
How long does a refund take?
Once a refund has been approved and started by the property manager, it typically takes 5 to 10 business days to appear on your card statement, depending on your card issuer.
