Having Trouble Uploading Your Documents or ID?

This guide explains how to upload your ID and documents during the application, and what to do if something isn't working.

Uploading your ID

When you upload a government-issued photo ID, the system scans it automatically. If the scan fails or you see an error:

  1. Make sure your ID photo meets these requirements:

    • The ID isn't expired

    • It's a clear, live-capture photo of the ID itself, not a photo of a screen

    • Well-lit, with no glare or shadows

    • The entire ID is visible and all text is legible

    • Solid-color background

    • No blur

  2. If you're still having trouble, try these technical fixes:

    • Log out and log back in at rent.findigs.com

    • Clear your browser's cache and cookies

    • Try a different browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, etc.)

    • Open an incognito/private browser window

    • Switch devices (for example, use a laptop instead of a phone)

If your ID photo is rejected because it looks like a photo of a screen, re-upload a direct photo and make sure all text and details are easy to read.

Accepted ID types

The system accepts valid, unexpired government-issued photo IDs from any country, including:

  • Driver's license (including temporary paper licenses)

  • State ID

  • Passport

  • Passport card

  • Green card

  • Visa

  • Work permit

  • Tribal ID

  • Asylum approval letter

  • Birth certificate (select the generic ID/identity card option when uploading)

If you only have a temporary paper ID while you wait for your physical card, you can still use it. Try uploading it up to 5 times, and the manual upload option will appear after the fifth attempt.

File formats

Supported upload formats are PDF, JPG, and PNG. Income documents must be PDFs. ID uploads must be JPG or JPEG.

Uploading income documents

Income documents (pay stubs, bank statements, W-2s, etc.) must be uploaded as PDFs. Photos and screenshots aren't accepted.

  1. Go to the Income & Employment section of your application.

  2. Continue until you see the options to link your payroll or bank account.

  3. Below those options, select Upload PDF documents or Do this manually.

Uploading documents after you submit

Once your application is submitted and under review, you can't upload documents through the application form. Send them through the underwriter chat on your dashboard:

  1. Log in at rent.findigs.com.

  2. Click View Details on your submitted application.

  3. Click View Chat under Quick Actions.

  4. Use the attachment (paperclip) icon to upload your documents.

For a visual guide, see How to Access Chat on Your Dashboard.

If the underwriter chat isn't available, contact Findigs Support at support@findigs.com for help submitting additional documents.

Please note: Some property management companies include their own review step before a final decision is made on an application. If you're not sure who to contact about your application, reach out to Findigs Support and we'll direct you to the right place.

I can't log in to upload a document

If you can't log in to upload required documents, there are two other options:

  • A co-applicant can upload them through their own chat portal on your behalf.

  • Your property manager can upload them. Share clear photos of your documents (for example, the front and back of your ID) with the property manager or leasing office, and they can upload them through the support chat for you.

I can't access the system where a required document is stored

If you can't get into the system that holds a required document (for example, a student enrollment portal that requires an app or device you don't have), try getting an equivalent document another way. For example, contact your school's registrar or admissions office and request an official verification letter or proof of enrollment. Ask them to email it to you as a PDF, then upload it in the underwriter chat in your dashboard.

General tips

  • Documents can't be submitted by email for security reasons. All documents must be uploaded through your Findigs account or the underwriter chat.

  • Your application saves automatically as you go, so you can close your browser and pick up where you left off.

  • If you're uploading from a phone and having trouble, switching to a desktop or laptop browser often fixes it.
